PR in Turbulent Times
Times are tough, no one can debate that, and tough times bring out new challenges for all industries. The newest Business Risk Report by Ernst & Young has reassessed the largest risk factors in business in 2009. Outside of the greatest risks related to the current economic climate, not surprisingly, the threat of a worsening reputation moved from number 22 to a top ten finish.
While the financial crisis shouldn’t be a catalyst to greater interest in Public Relations, it seems that PR as an industry and discipline is gaining ground on other marketing communication related disciplines. This trend will therefore be the primary theme for further exploration in a conference co-organized by the Association of Public Relations Agencies (APRA) and Blue Events. PR Summit 2009 with the subtitle PR in Turbulent Times will be held at andel’s hotel in Prague on October 21, 2009.
The goal of the 2009 PR Summit is to create a platform where mutual dialogue can be exchanged amongst top PR professionals including consultants, in-house managers and directors as well as state institutions and non profit organizations. While the program is not yet set in stone, the keynote speaker is fixed: It will be Lou Capozzi from the United States, a 40-year veteran with in-house and international agency experience as well as current ICCO president. The afternoon block will be dedicated to exploring how PR can take an even bigger bite out of the MarCom pie, using traditional and some very non-traditional presentation formats.
The organizers do hope they have set the wheels in motion to creating an interesting, informative and hopefully also an entertaining PR conference.
